Educator's Music offers private lessons for a wide variety of band and orchestra instruments, as well as piano and guitar. Our instructors are all experienced, highly qualified professionals who are ready to help you, whether you're a beginner learning a new instrument or an experienced musician refining your skills. Many of our students receive superior ratings in the Greater Cleveland OMEA Solo and Ensemble contest, and we have successfully prepared many of our most dedicated students for University music programs and professional music careers.
We accept payments for lessons on a weekly basis, or we have an optional monthly payment plan. No long term contract is required.
Clarinet: Alix Reinhardt has a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from Indiana University and a Master's degree in Music Performance from the University of Western Ontario. She is a member of adjunct faculty of the University of Akron, and a regular performer with the Akron, Canton, Youngstown and Wheeling Symphony Orchestras.
Saxophone: J. Howard Calvin has Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Akron. He is the former Director of Bands at Revere Local Schools, and currently the Director of Bands at Shiloh Middle School, Parma, Ohio.
Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Saxophone: John Stavash has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Michigan. He was a member of the United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C. including four national tours, and he performed extensively with the Ohio Chamber Orchestra, Cleveland Ballet, Cleveland Opera, Cleveland Chamber Symphony and Cleveland Pops. He was Principal Clarinet for the first Cleveland performances of the national tour of Phantom Of The Opera. He has extensive experience teaching students of all levels. He is the owner of Educator's Music.
Saxophone/Trumpet: Scott Tenney has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Kent State University. He studied with Harry Herforth of Case Western Reserve University. He is certified to teach all areas of music for grades K-12, and is Director of Instrumental Music at Trinity High School in Garfield Heights, Ohio.
Flute/Piccolo: Tom Kruggel is a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory, and he studied with William Hebert, flutist with the Cleveland Orchestra. He has 30 years of private teaching experience.
Oboe: Margaret Marek has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Baldwin-Wallace College, and she was a student of Elizabeth Camus, member of the Cleveland Orchestra. She has accompanied the Cleveland Choral Arts Society, and she has seventeen years of experience as a private oboe instructor.
Bassoon: Lydia Byndas has a Bachelor's degree in Music from Oberlin Conservatory, and a Master's degree in Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She is a member of the Lakewood Hometown Band.
Trumpet: Jim Sentz has a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from The Ohio State University and a Master's degree in Music from Akron University. He has 30 years experience as a band director in the Parma City Schools, and is the Music Supervisor of the Parma Cluster School Group.
Low Brass: Thomas Selby has a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from The Ohio State University. He is a retired band director with the Lakewood City Schools, and is currently an assistant with the Lakewood High School Orchestra. He is a member of numerous brass bands and civic groups in the Cleveland area.
Trombone: Rick Nadson has a Master's degree in Music Education from Texas Christian University, Ft. Worth, and a Master of Educational Administration from Ursuline College. He is a music teacher at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic School, Cleveland, and he has played in the Mansfield Symphony and Lakeside Symphony.
Percussion: Dave Brewer is a New York Studio Musician with 30 years of teaching experience. He has performed with the Boston Pops and Sea World Showland, and he is a student of Jim Chapin and Eddie Shaughnessy (Tonight Show Orchestra).
Tim Hampton has a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from Youngstown State University and a Master of Music Performance degree from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He has performed with the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra, and he is the percussion advisor for the Lakewood High School marching band and percussion ensemble.
Violin/Viola: Liz Rothenbush has a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from Baldwin Wallace College and a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of Memphis, TN. She is a violinist for the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Lakeside Summer Symphony, and numerous other Symphony Orchestras, and she has had Suzuki Certified Teacher Training from the Chicago Suzuki Institute.
Cello: Robert Nicholson has a Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance, Peabody, John Hopkins University, and a Master of Music degree in Orchestra Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, NY. He has performed internationally and at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He is the string coach at Euclid High School, and he teaches masterclasses for schools in Hillsborough County, Florida.
Piano: Lauren Kelly Sterbank holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Voice Performance from Cleveland State University. She studied voice, cello and piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She is a member of the Cleveland Piano Teachers Organization and the National Music Teachers Association. She is the music director of St. Bridget Church and the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
Piano: Elena Taylor has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance from Volgograd Conservatory, Russia, and a Bachelor of Music, Music Education from Volgograd State Pedagogical University. She holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Cleveland State University, where she studied with Dr. Angelin Chang.
Guitar, Keyboard, Bass Guitar: Bob Morris has played professionally for over 25 years, and has been teaching at Educator's Music since 2004. He specializes in teaching young children guitar and keyboard, and he teaches bass guitar at all levels.
Guitar: Gil Yacshon is an alumnus of the Modern Music School. He is a student of Carl Poliafico (Cleveland Orchestra) and Joseph Baldassarre. He is a studio session guitarist with Jazz and Big Band Jazz recordings, and he has played with numerous professional bands throughout Ohio and the Midwestern United States. He is an accomplished guitarist teaching all styles and all levels for over 25 years.
Guitar: Bruce Walker has 28+ years experience performing and teaching within these guitar genres: Rock, Jazz, Slide, Country, Advanced Fingerstyle, Blues and Vocal/Guitar Accompaniment. He studied advanced guitar technique with Ralph Russo (deceased). He holds an associate degree from Tri-C with focus on Electronics and Musical Harmony Theory Studies. He also continues to promote the M.I.D.I. guitar synthesizer.
